Abstract

The goal of this work was to produce renewable biochar from groundnut shells as a potential method of treating wastewater. In this work, the biomasses of sugar cane bagasse and peanut shells were pyrolyzed at 400°C, 450°C, and 500°C to create biochars. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy, and energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry (SEM and EDX) were used to characterize the biomass samples and the biochars they formed in order to assess their potential. According to experimental findings, biochar has superior porous properties over raw biomass. Additionally, we discovered that raising the pyrolysis temperature significantly enhanced the biochars' morphology and porosity.
